Laura Donald joined MBM’s Corporate and US teams as a Director in early 2023.
Laura has spent over three decades in corporate and commercial law in the US (and now in Scotland), working on M&A transactions, equity investments, corporate governance matters and commercial agreements. As a member of MBM’s US team, Laura supports businesses as they expand in the US, from initial set up to investment and subsequently to exit. She also advises local clients receiving funding from US investors. Laura has worked on significant M&A transactions involving the sale of MBM’s technology clients to US private equity and strategic buyers. She has also advised Scottish and international venture capital funds on early-stage investments into US technology companies.
After graduating from Stanford Law School, Laura began her
career in the Silicon Valley in California, advising early stage and
high-growth companies on their formation, fundraising, day-to-day running of
their businesses, commercial contracts, corporate governance and exit through
an initial public offering or sale transaction, Prior to joining MBM
Commercial, she spent 16 years in the Corporate Law division of NYSE listed
Albertsons, rising to Group Vice President. As a former in-house counsel, Laura
recognizes that companies appreciate a pragmatic, commercial approach from
their external advisors and brings this perspective to her practice at MBM.

- Advising Daxtra, a leading provider of AI-enriched software for the talent acquisition ecosystem, on a majority growth investment from Strattam Capital, a US private equity firm
- Advising LinkBuilder.io, a prominent player in the SEO and link-building industry, on its acquisition by US digital marketing company Next Net Media
- Providing US counsel to a fund on its investment into a US-based leader in zero-emission aviation.
- Providing US counsel to a fund on its investment into a US-based sports technology company.
- Providing US counsel to a Dutch VC fund on its follow-on investment into a US-based portfolio company
- Providing US counsel to a German VC fund on investments into two different US technology companies
