Mucklebrig
Ian Stirling and Paddy Fletcher, Founders of Muckelbrig, first started producing Whisky in the back garden of their shared flat in London. The life-long friends have come a long way from those early days, and now run Scotland's first vertical distillery in Leith, Edinburgh.
Opened to the public in 2023, the nine story building is a hub for both whisky production and hospitality - with the top floors of the building offering a bar, restaurant and meeting and event spaces with 360º views across Edinburgh and the firth of Forth. But building such a modern distillery in the heart of Edinburgh is not an easy process, and the team faced a number of challenges to get the building out of the ground. The location next to the harbour and Covid undoubtedly made things more challenging - but the result is a pioneering, modern take on a distillery. Whisky production started on the site in 2024 with distillery tours offered most days of the week.

In addition to the Port of Leith whisky distillery, Mucklebrig produces the highly successful Lind & Lime gin from another facility in Leith. The success of the gin production and its global growth has been key in getting the firm to where they are today. Their distinctive bottle, B-Corp rating and award-winning taste is loved by gin aficionados the world over.
Mucklebrig has raised over £12m including over £2.8m through a crowdfunding campaign in 2022.
