The Business & Banking Litigation Network (“BBLN”), a leading membership organization dedicated to exchange information and best practice in business, banking and financial litigation, is proud to announce that the Scottish chapter, MBM Commercial, hosted the highly anticipated BBLN annual event in the historic city of Edinburgh for the first time. The event took place on 9th June at the Faculty of Advocates, and attracted over 20 representatives from different countries worldwide.

The annual event serves as a crucial platform for professionals in the field of business and banking litigation to come together, exchange ideas, and foster international collaboration. This year, the event was exceptionally insightful and engaging, with a line-up of renowned guest speakers and an impressive representation from diverse nations.

One of the highlights of the conference was a keynote presentation delivered by esteemed guest speakers from EY, a global leader in assurance, tax, transactions, and advisory services. The session, titled "Trends in Investigations, Compliance, and Asset Tracing," shed light on the latest industry developments, emerging challenges, and innovative strategies employed in these critical areas.

In addition, Lord Drummond Young, retired Judge of the Supreme Courts of Scotland and former Chairman of the Scottish Law Commission, presented a comparative analysis of Scottish Law and those in other jurisdictions around lending on invoices and on movable and immovable property.

The participation of several first-time attendees from different corners of the globe further emphasizes the international appeal and relevance of the annual event with representatives from Canada, Dubai, Ecuador, Poland, and Hong Kong bringing unique perspectives and enriching the discussions, which created a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere throughout the conference.

As the event's host, the MBM Commercial was thrilled to showcase Edinburgh's rich heritage, vibrant culture, and renowned hospitality. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the city's iconic landmarks, delve into its fascinating history, and experience its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The local organizing committee curated a range of social activities and networking opportunities, including a whisky tasting and tour of the Royal Mile, to enhance the participants' overall experience.

"We were delighted to host the annual event in Edinburgh, Scotland, for the first time," said Tim Edward, Head of Dispute Resolution at MBM Commercial, the BBLN’s Scottish chapter. "This event serves as a catalyst for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and professional growth, and we are confident that our attendees benefited immensely from the engaging sessions and networking opportunities. It was a highly successful and memorable event."
