New Faces

We are delighted to tell you about several key appointments and promotions that will support MBM’s growth in 2023 and beyond:

Alison Scott

In November, we were delighted to welcome Alison Scott as Partner and Head of the firm’s Commercial Property practice. Alison joined us from DLA and took over the reins of the department upon the retirement of Jane Ramsay. She brings over 20 years’ experience working with developers, corporate occupiers and lenders and over her career has provided advice and guidance on complex site assembly, acquisitions, sales, leases and property management. Alison has also helped her clients with the Scottish real estate aspects of cross-border property finance and corporate deals.

Iain McDougall

Iain was promoted to the role of partner on 1 January 2023. Iain has been at the firm for 14 years and he is the first member of staff at MBM who joined the firm as a trainee in 2008 and who has risen through the ranks to partner. He is based in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team and specialises in intellectual property, commercial and financial disputes, and professional negligence. In 2022, he was ranked as an Associate to Watch in Chambers & Partners for his work in Banking Litigation.

Caroline Urban

Caroline was also promoted to the role of partner on 1 January 2023. Caroline joined the firm in 2018 and has been an important part of the London team’s growth over the last five years. She has broad corporate experience advising on M&A transactions, investments on company and investor side and capital markets transactions. Caroline has a deep interest in international matters and is a committee member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and Head of MBM’s German Desk. She is also a board member of World Tech Legal - an international association of like-minded entrepreneurial law firms established by MBM Commercial.

Ruth Weir

Our Intellectual Property, Data Protection and Contracts team was delighted to be joined by Ruth Weir as a Senior Associate in late summer. Ruth is an highly experienced commercial lawyer with a particular interest in data protection. She is taking the lead on developing our data protection services.

Stewart MacBride

At the beginning of this year we were joined by Stewart MacBride as our Finance Director. Stewart worked as MBM’s out-sourced Finance Director for 6 years at The Cashroom prior to joining us. He is a qualified chartered accountant and his background prior to working at The Cashroom includes client-facing roles with Baker Tilly and Scott Moncrieff.
